Information on the Complaint Office

The association FSM runs a Complaint Office. Its organisation and operation result from the FSM articles and the FSM Complaint Rules – in particular articles 1 and 8 of the Complaint Rules.

In special exceptional cases the Complaint Office cooperates with law enforcement agencies according to article 8 no 3 of the Complaint Rules. This agreement was developed in cooperation with the corresponding institutions. Complaints focusing German telemedia providers which are not members of the FSM may be forwarded to the respective competent State Media Authority blinding the complainant’s data according to article 6 no 5 of the Complaint Rules.

The Complaint Proceedings are commented in detail on our web site.

50 % of the funding is contributed by the EU, the remaining 50 % are realised by means of membership fees.

According to article 4 no 2c of the Complaint Rules the Complaint Office is authorised to refuse the proceeding of anonymous complaints. Therefore, the complaint has to contain an working email address and the complainant’s name. If the given information is apparently wrong or incomplete, the Complaint Office reserves the right not to precede the complaint (exception: complaints about child pornography do not necessarily need to indicate more than the location).

The FSM observes the rules of data protection; please read our data protection declaration.
